So, the bolt was the idea of putting these two "paternal" twins together to make one table! So, after some regluing of some loose joints, minor repairs to the bottom shelf of the "other" twin and priming, their legs were based in a soft black. The tops and the shelves were painted in a soft cream color.
The tops still screamed for something more. I wanted to put some kind of medallion in the middle. I got out my stencils and found a "wreath" shape. I stenciled it with the same black that the legs were base-coated in. I then used a matching stencil and laid out a lattice pattern surrounding the medallion. I did this in a white paint. This really set off the black medallion and gave the table a little something on top without competing with the center design. But, it still needed something. I found a round stamp that I had laying around and stamped that design plop in the middle of the black wreath.
Two tables in one! Split personality!
They can be used together as one table, or used separately in two different locations! All because they "magically" ended up at my house at the same time. Talk about a coincidence!
